Over the course of history, a great number of high schools and institutions of secondary education featured here on Illinois High School Glory Days have had success in numerous ways, one of which has been in the area of athletic competition. This page has been created to show the top 25 schools on the Glory Days site, based on total wins.
A special thanks to Tom Sikorski, John Ballentine, Eric Dornbush, Gene Jontry, Nat Zunkel, Merlin Haas, Pete Meiss, Rebecca Fritz, Lonnie Schwindenhammer, Ron Murphy, Ryan Tompkins, Tom Kahn, Joe Ziemba, and the folks at the IHSA for providing totals to help us develop this page.

Each year since 2012, Tom Sikorski and Kev Varney have presented a list of the most wins in Illinois high school football history. The list evolved from the top 100 into all schools that have won 300 or more games, and is referred to as Project 300, which lists schools such as Chenoa, Walnut, El Paso, Virden, and Peoria Spalding. The yearly list not only shows the top 300 schools in the state, but also has a listing of all schools that have won 60% or better of their varsity games (with a 250 game minimum), as well as a watch list for schools that could part of the 300 win list in the future. |
